Whoa, dude. Am I nuts or does this one not only kick ass but exceed the first movie? Way funnier, with most of Carrey’s bits landing along with Idris Elba’s droll voice work being a particular highlight. Action was solid too.
I hate saying a movie’s too long. It’s way too easy and reductive, but this was TOO much of a good thing. I was entertained the whole time and it kept surprising me. Maybe not with original plot twists, but the visual and verbal gags sold me.
I guess it just got a bit exhausting but again, credit where credit is due, the seemingly unimportant subplots ended up working their way into the main story.
