Battleground (2006)

nickkarner

I shrugged off this series long ago but was intrigued after an episode of the Stephen King-centered The Kingcast mentioned the subsequent adaptation of the short story “Battleground.” Based on the IMDB ratings for the rest of the episodes, this one is by far the most popular and well-received and I decided not to dive into the rest of the series at this time.

Suffice it to say, Battleground is easily one of the best episodes of a horror anthology series I’ve ever seen. William Hurt is superb, Brian Henson’s direction is literally perfect, and the bold, unexpected decision to remove all dialogue was a brilliant choice.

It is, as Art Carney once said in another King adaptation: “A Corker!”
